quick update before i go to bed...

we are currently listing about 400 shows right now on my website www.thesocalscene.com . I seriously cant believe it. I have been wanting to start a website like this for about three years now. I remember when lapunk had their website up first, I was really bummed. I couldnt believe that they beat me to the punch... but when they stopped updating, I began to see the light at the end of the tunnel. So about five months (?) ago, the idea came up again so I decided not to lag it this time. At first, I was going to do everything myself, layout, updating, etc... But that meant I would be heading in the same way lapunk did... You see, the problem that they had was that they coded everything by hand, and by html. So that mean that they had to hand type every single show and upload it, page by page. That meant you had to upload a page every time you do something or when you screw a date, etc... So I tried to learn this new thing called php but it was working because I have no patience and no time at all. So I sent out a couple emails to different web designers and luckily, Evan, from Amity emailed me back saying he wanted to do something like that too.. So he would make the website for free which was awesome. We launched the website the beginning of the year and it has been taking off. First, with the help of our contests, and then just the shows in general. I, sometimes, go to my own website to see what shows are going on that night.. How sick is that? And I know there are many of you out there that share the same problem.. Not knowing what shows are going on on a particular night... That is why I made the website. I live and breath music and this is just my thanks to the music community. If you band formed last week, and is playing your first show at the cobalt cafe, submit it, and it will show up on the page.. Have an EP coming out next month? Send it to me and I will review it. I will not guarantee that it will be a good/bad review but its a review right? And if we review the cd and you have the cd for sale on smartpunk, we will add a link to your cd so people can buy it instantly. Cool right? You damn right. Just the thought of having my dream for everyone to see is just incredible. I sometimes smile because you guys dont know what we have in store for you guys in the coming months...
